a lost friend

My beloved
I lost you.
gone are you
from the spot on my desk.

You were the best.
flowy
and smooth
you float over
the lines in my notebook.
but now you’re gone.

I search
and search
Where are you?
you’re not in the family room
or the kitchen
Why do you hide from me?

then
my hand reaches
into my mothers purse.
Its you!
My tear stained face lights up!
What a beautiful site you are,
cradled in my hand!

liquid joy
streaks down my face
you were stolen,
kidnapped,
lost.

But now

You’re found.
